Background, Verses 1-2

1.  What does the name Amos mean?

2.  What was his occupation?  How is this different than other prophets (i.e. Isaiah & Jeremiah)?

 

3.  Where was Amos from?  Where was this geographically?

 

4.  What were the conditions of Judah and Israel at this time both economically and politically? Morally and spiritually?

 

 

5.  When was the book of Amos written?  What specific dating is given in verse 1, and what other OT passage references this event?

 

6.  What does a roar make you think of?  Why do you think He uses this illustration?
